CAPTN

Introduction

This project is a forward-looking design based on an environmentally friendly and sustainable development with new energy and new technologies. Through the outlook for the new ferry, the city will be given more opportunities for the development. This cross-disciplinary project comprises the Council of City Kiel government, Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design, CAU and Future ocean, University of Applied Science in Kiel. In the Captin-Kiel project group, various academic institutions conduct research based on their own disciplinary systems, talents and facilities, such as the development of platforms and ferry information for urban mobility, battery and electricity supply technologies for ferries, and engineering support for new types of docks and buildings. On behalf of our school (MKH), our four team members presented two different concepts of unmanned electric ferry after a semester of design process. Our Leader, Prof. Detlef Rhein, wants our project to be a design-oriented solution that will become a local landmark that will boost the local economy and attract tourists. The two options will be selected and come true in the future.
